THE COMPLETE PROGRAM

Bill May believes that there are 3 key components to a quality club wide goalkeeper program: consistent goalkeeper-specific training, game analysis/feedback, and tactical training during team practices. On Jan 1, 2005 we put all three components together for weekly training at team practices as teams prepared for the State Cup.

  • Goalkeeper Training - in order to reduce bad habits and reinforce proper technique, it is important for goalkeepers to train on a regular basis in a controlled goalkeeper setting.

  • Game Analysis and Feedback - seeing first hand what a goalkeeper's strengths and weaknesses are is essential in determining what a goalkeeper needs to focus on in order to make the largest imporovements.

  • Tactical training at team practices - - tactical training is an area that is often overlooked in a training setting. Technicasl training does not address.
